Things I am Afraid of

parrots
doctors (but only when I'm the patient)
being widowed
supernatural phenomena
Christmas shopping in huge crowds in overheated shopping malls with loud Christmas carols playing over the intercom speakers

I agree very much so with the christmas shopping, although not so much of a phobia more like one of the things that gets me angry really really quickly. the inconsiderate nature of people shoving and barging past yoo without so much as an excuse me, and people hitting yoo with bags or almost taking out your eyes with umbrellas. It does kinda tend to provoke an almost panic attack sorta status.
But why parrots? is it just parrots or is it other birds too?

Yeah, Christmas shopping is something that always makes me feel torn between wanting to kill people and wanting to hide under a bench and cry. And that bothers me because I love finding gifts for my family and friends... especially when it feels like something they're really going to like! That's why I always try to shop on November 11th (Remembrance Day) and do most of it then so that I can avoid the December madness as much as possible.

I'm not sure why I find parrots so frightening. Honestly I feel nervous about most big birds. I think little birds like finches are sweet and pretty, but the big ones kind of seem like they'd like to pinch my fingers off. I'm particularly frightened of parrots, I think, because the pet stores here so often let them out of their cages to sit atop the frame. Then when I go shopping for dog food... suddenly I'll realise that there's a huge black tongue poking out of a beak by left elbow and it makes me jump! Also I think parrots are creepy the way they say things that make sense without understanding them. It's scary.

(When I reread that I realised I sounded like a total kook but I'm posting it anyway, hehe.)
