And this is Rufous Hummingbird. I think she is very pretty.
She feeds at sunrise and at sundown. She is not afraid of the bigger birds eating sunflower seeds nearby. I wondered if she would come back this year; she did.

These photos are amazing. Is that all you feed them, sunflower seeds? Sounds tranquil, watching out the window as these beautiful creatures do their thing. We have lorikeets, parrots, rosellas and cockatoos where I live and many other birds. I've never thought about feeding them though. Mmmm.
Sunflower seeds for the Grosbeak and lots of other birds. Sugar and water for hummingbirds. Nyger for the finches. Suet for the starlings and woodpeckers. Millet for the sparrows. And peanuts to keep the squirrels from breaking into the bird feeders. My garden is filled with feeders.
What kind of lorikeets? I fed rainbow lorikeets at a farm in Arizona and wanted very much to sneak one out under my jacket. I think parrots are a little frightening though. Not if seen through glass, just perched on my shoulder.
They are rainbow lorikeets I think, really pretty, lots of colour. I think the idea of feeding the local birds an inspired one and will put some thoughts to it myself. Your blog has been by far the favourite I have ever read. Your writing style is thoroughly engaging, and it doesn't matter what you write. I could imagine you going on and getting published with some form of writing, anything I think you were to turn your hand to would read well. Maybe it's just a matter of time. I am going to keep writing my blog but I have hidden my comments section. I think while my blog is like this it would be unfair to comment on other peoples blogs as no one can comment on mine. Your blog has meant a lot to me, which probably sounds a bit kooky, but it has, I wanted to tell you. I want to keep writing but I am finding some things difficult at the moment. Paul - (Paul!) I am glad you will keep writing because I will keep reading. If you cannot read my comment you can imagine it instead because I have a lot I want to say (to you) about so many things. I think I understand about reading things and how it can mean a lot, and being able to write anything that matters to *anyone* is a huge compliment I probably do not deserve. But appreciate so much.
About the birds, do it. It's the closest and most sincere, sustainable effort I have ever made at going to Church. It makes sense, I promise. If I had rainbow lorikeets I would be a believer by now. Do it.

Wonderful photos! I love hummingbirds, and have a couple in my backyard, too. They haven't appeared yet this year, as far as I know, but I think they will soon.
Is it a different kind of hummingbird in your part of the world? I bet you get more varieties there.
