signs of spring

Spring comes early here.  Late January, early February.  On the prairies that's still the dead of winter.  On the coast it's spring when you start to see:

- daffodil stems
- creepy bugs
- weird things with seventeen legs washing up on the shore

I want to deep fry that thing and dip it in tzatziki sauce. What did you do with it?

I miss those weird things with seventeen legs washing up on the shore...

I wish I were close enough to a shore to have that happen. But I do have bulbs sprouting.

It did not occur to me to eat it but I was tempted to touch it. Common sense won out though when I noticed those spiky bits on top.

jb, have you moved from a place near the shore?

Bulbs sprouting is good too. Mine are being dug up by wildlife. Must taste good to someone.

Long Island's South shore for my first 19 years...then NH, which has a wee bit of shoreline, but I've spent much time on Maine's coast. I do so miss it here in Michigan...the Great Lakes just aren't the same--maybe it's the saltlessness...

Something about the Great Lakes always seemed so sad to me. But I was looking south from Ontario so maybe the view is different. But yes, the saltlessness. (I like this word.) Oh, the saltlessness.

I like 'saltlessness' better than the sixteen leg thing.

You seem to have a serious aversion to sea creatures. It's not your fault, though. Being landlocked for long periods of time does this.
