He's Dutch. I swear to god you're looking for more but all there is to it is he's Dutch. Once you realize all the superior silence is bullshit all you are left with is that he is fucking Dutch. They only seem secretive and deeply knowledgeable, in the end they only appear to know more than you and you begin to believe in cliches -- the Dutch make you. Other than opinions and a reputation for being cheaper than the Scots, well earned I might add, all you are left with is an explanation for why South Africans behave so poorly in public. They are the descendants of the truly poor and wacky Dutch.
I don't know any Dutch people well enough to venture an opinion, but the business with the watch is intriguing. It may simply be an idiosyncrasy of K's, or perhaps a cultural custom like leaving ones shoes outside the door. Please let us know if you find out.
The watch will go unexplained not because it's not interesting, but because he's Dutch, the first refusal is exactly the same as the thirtieth. Come on stereotypes, don't fail me now.
Your silence is absolutely not golden. I'm back to trolling through your blog for a little attention, feeling that furtive glance guilt. Which is odd as I generally appreciate the lack of obligation when somebody does me the favour of ignoring me.
And don't bother with the cliched "my email is acting up." You want to be stocked, things disappearing from the house in the middle of the night, checking the rearview mirror all the time. I'm going to feel bad when I have to off one of your pets, but you made me.
@h- I think you're right when you say idiosyncrasy as opposed to cultural custom. My Dutch grandfather definitely wore his watch both indoors and out. I think K is loaded with idiosyncrasies, which is good, because they're interesting. I want to know *why* he does it but I don't think he can tell me because he probably doesn't know why. I don't know why I do a lot of the things I do either.

It's not him... it's the watch. Why isn't my email working? I'm cut off from you again.

@J - you are insane. I wrote you last night; waiting to see if M/D intercepted.
