Urban Dictionary (which is not a reliable source of information but is helpful when translating teenager-speak into English) defines caraphernelia as a condition in which someone abandons you but leaves their belongings behind, inducing painful memories.

Urban Dictionary is a favourite of mine. The words make me giggle.
You've just given me another condition. You do realise this, don't you?
;-) P x
This is added to my list of things that I am sure I won't remember. But I will remember to check out Urban Dictionary. Sounds interesting.
Does this include stuff left behind by someone who up and dies on you? (I mean, literally dies)
Pixie, I think I have had this condition too. A few times.
Jerry, you'll enjoy Urban Dictionary, I think. It's educational.
Bridget, I think that kind of abandonment counts too. Even more painful.
Urban Dictionary is useful but also sometimes gives me answers I wish I'd never, never read. Like "Santorum." Don't look that one up. My kids warned me and I did it anyway and now I'm deeply sorry.
You must have known I would have to look that up. Thank you for that. :P
okay, as much as I want to, I am so NOT looking that up!
Sorry - I was compelled to share the agony!
